Darling Precinct – infrastructure works – August to October 2020
The following information is from the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service:
Stage 2 of Critical Infrastructure Works (power, water, sewage) will commence on 3 August around Darlington at Maria Island National Park. The works are expected to be complete by the end of October 2020.
The road from the jetty to Darlington will be closed from 6 August to 25 September with an alternative access path provided. This path will be narrow and may be uneven underfoot.
Luggage trollies will not be available during this period; overnight guests will need to carry their luggage.
As the works progress, the worksite will move through Darlington and the rear of the Penitentiary.
There will be large machinery onsite, visitors can expect noise, dust and ground vibrations throughout the day in the immediate vicinity of the works.
For visitor safety, please adhere to all signs and directions.
The Commissariat Store will remain open to visitors. Parks Passes or any other transactions will be temporarily processed at the Ranger Station in Darlington.
